Fractals are Infinities based on an Impossibility. Yes, the numbers used to make fractals are not completely real; they are, in part, imaginary. For example, if we had a number that when multiplied by itself was equal to minus one, we would have something very special. For, there is no such number. We can only imagine one.
So we take one of these partly real partly imaginary numbers and transform it, by applying some mathematical formulation, into a new number, partly real and partly imaginary. We can then do the transformation over again on this new number to produce yet another. If this is done over again many times, the results will form a pattern. By coloring each pattern true to its own nature, as applied across a computer screen, Fractals are drawn. The Fractals on this page were generated by Tiera-Zon a Fractal generator from Stephen C. Ferguson. Formulas that came as part of Tiera-Zon were used for these images. Please feel free to download any of these images for your own personal use.
