This image of the Martian surface is a mosaic of nine 1024x1024 images taken from the "PDS Mars Explorer for the Armchair Astronaut". These nine overlapping images were down loaded with the "black and white", "mercator" and "large" options set at 1 mi. per picture element resolution. The mosaic was produced in Adobe PhotoShop to give a 2044x2030 image covering over four million square miles, most of which appears to be covered with lava from some very large volcanoes.
